I’m pleased to be able to share our ORBIT Employer Web site with all of you who do so much for the members of North Carolina’s Retirement Systems. ORBIT represents the next step in our commitment to improving the quality of service available to our State’s active employees and retired members. As an employer, you are a critical part of the project’s success. Please use this site to stay informed about the project and opportunities for you and your employees to learn more.

What is ORBIT?

ORBIT, which stands for Online Retirement Benefits through Integrated Technology, is a system that will grant employers, employees and retirees online access to retirement accounts and transactions. The state-of-the-art ORBIT system opened online services for employers and employees in Oct. 2007.

ORBIT Employer File Format

Take a look at the Employer Reporting File Format Revisions to be used by employers for monthly reporting starting in Fall 2007. The format requires more information than the current format, but will enable ORBIT to provide you with an accurate and comprehensive view of your employees' retirement accounts.

ORBIT Member ID File Format

Through the Employer Self Service website, employers will be able to download a file of their employees' Member IDs. The Member ID File will allow employers to obtain the ORBIT Member IDs and report them on subsequent employer reports.
