Legislative Digests for Affected System Employers Posted

If you missed the legislative digest for your retirement system, the NC Retirement Systems has posted the digests of legislative actions affecting retirement law taken by the General Assembly this year. Digests for all systems can be found here.

2016 September ORBIT Reporting

For September ORBIT payroll reporting, consider submitting your ORBIT report early to prevent delays during the NC State Health Plan’s Open Enrollment!

The NC State Health Plan Open Enrollment period will be held Sept. 30-October 31, 2017. During this time, traffic to our website and use of its resources may increase above normal. Delays may be experienced the closer you get to the September 2017 ORBIT Report due date of October 5.  (Remember, you can always submit as soon as the last payroll for the month has been run by your agency.)

State Health Plan Open Enrollment Begins September 30

Changes are coming in 2018 for State Health Plan members. Open Enrollment will be conducted September 30-October 31, 2017.

The State Health Plan’s Board of Trustees, under the direction of Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, approved several changes for the 2018 benefit year. These changes are meant to reduce plan complexity for members while still maintaining quality health coverage and providing long-term financial stability for the State Health Plan.

This year, employees will notice that what used to take 50 clicks to complete enrollment will now only take around 10 clicks, making the enrollment experience simple and straightforward. In addition, family premiums have been frozen for the 2018 benefit year.

Employers are encouraged to remind employees to watch their home mailboxes for Open Enrollment decision guides. Employees should be sure to READ all materials and not wait until the last minute to enroll. More information also is available on the State Health Plan website at www.shpnc.org.
