Former Employee Retirements

For Employers with members of the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System, Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System, Consolidated Judicial Retirement System and Legislative Retirement Systems

If members leave their retirement system for any reason other than retirement or death, they can either receive a refund of their contributions, plus interest, or leave the contributions in that system and keep all the creditable service they earned to that date.

Members may be entitled to receive a deferred benefit at a later date once they meet eligibility requirements after they have completed five years of membership (non-law enforcement officers) or creditable (law enforcement officers) service, provided they do not withdraw their contributions. The member's benefit is calculated using the formula in effect on their retirement date. It is based on their average final compensation and years of creditable service at that time.
