A member may purchase credit for periods of withdrawn University of North Carolina Optional Retirement Program service, provided he or she is not receiving, and is not entitled to receive, any retirement benefits resulting from this service. 

To purchase this service, the member must have completed five years of service as a contributing member of TSERS since the Optional Retirement Program service. The member’s cost will be a lump sum payment equal to the full actuarial liabilities created from the additional credit purchased.
